Anderson, South Carolina (WSPA) – The 6th annual Sol Sunflower Festival returns to Anderson this weekend. 100% of revenue goes to local nonprofits in the upstate.
The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 26 and 27.
Entrance is free and parking is free.
A bouquet of sunflowers costs $ 10 and a T-shirt costs $ 35.
Event organizer Daniel Roberts said it was an opportunity to go outside to buy flowers and support some of the big goals.
“The money raised through this fundraising event Foothills Community Foundation Here in Anderson, they are the ones distributing it to local agencies and organizations,” said Roberts.
One of the organizations that will benefit from the festival is Special Olympics in Zone 14, Anderson County.
“We have seen these athletes thrive through the camaraderie, fellow comrades, learning opportunities and the great fitness opportunities that have been provided to them,” said Elliott Holman.
But coach Holman said he couldn’t do it without funding.
Thanks to the Sol Sunflower Festival, he can see his nephew George pursue his passion for the sport.
“But they also paid attention to these stories, voices and efforts made possible by their funding,” said Holman.
It’s the same story Bridge center, Inpatient Drug Rehabilitation Center for Men.
“The money went straight to our general financial resources and helped open the door at the time. Now it only helps those who can’t afford the treatment to have better opportunities, ”Bridge Center said. Bradley Saxon, founder and general secretary of the company, said.
Roberts said it was about giving back to the community.
“We’re just trying to do what we can to help other people and families,” she added.
For those who cannot attend the Sol Sunflower Festival, we will be back on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 3-4.
