Mega Catrinas Photography Exhibition Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Seeking community support through Kickstarter, this exhibit is an image of Mexican folklore and honors those who are no longer there!

Jessica Esquivias is an internationally acclaimed Mexican creative artist, producer, cultural manager and founder and creator of Mega Procession of the Catrinas in Mexico. She has worked for the Catrinas for 8 years in Mexico and just before the pandemic in 2019 the parade surpassed 180,000 attendees. Additionally, she has supported more than 500 makeup artists, who embody Catrina on the faces of thousands of people.

Jessica has strengthened the image of Catrinas by giving a new artistic and socio-cultural vision to this Mexican folk tradition. This year she proudly announced the launch of a photography exhibition Mega Catrinas and she is raising funds and support for this project via Kickstarter.

“As the pandemic has arrived and the peak of a massive strike celebration, we have decided to transmute the Mega Procession and honor all those who have lost the battle against this virus and all the heroes and heroines who , despite the pandemic, have never stopped working.” Says Jessica Esquivias, while presenting this project to the Kickstarter community.

Mega Catrinas is a unique exhibition of its kind, with a change of perspective on catrinas and catrines and this exhibition deals with living Catrinas and Catrines, everyday actresses, fighters and heroes without capes. The artist believes that this exhibition and the mega procession are also a unique way to send a message to the whole world.

The Kickstarter campaign can be found on the web at: and backers around the world can be part of this project by pledging and donating generously. Additionally, the goal of this Kickstarter campaign is to raise an amount of MX$422,300 and Jessica is offering a wide range of backer rewards with worldwide shipping. Additionally, more details are available on the project’s Kickstarter campaign page.
