AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – The Amarillo Museum of Art is set to host its Texas Photographic Society’s 34th annual Member Only Show from Saturday August 14 through Sunday October 10, according to a press release from the Amarillo Museum of Art.
The exhibit will be located on the third floor of the museum and will feature works judged by esteemed photographers Jull Skupin Burkholder and Dan Burkholder, the statement said.
Additionally, the exhibit will feature “expressive” images of first place winner karey Walter, second place winner Dale Niles and third place winner Parris Kitt, according to the museum.
Jurors said the following about the winners chosen for the exhibit:
With so many photographic possibilities in film, optics, editing, and process, Photographers seem to be an incredibly diverse group of artists who fight against any unifying characteristic. But as you’ll see in this imaginative limb exhibit, the unity is there. The artists portrayed in this show treat the assortment of possibilities as if being handed the keys to the visual playground. Their creativity and visual instincts take flight in a delicious way. TPS promotes an inclusive approach to the medium, mixing a community of photographers who perceive the world with unique visions. From touching portraits (human and animal) to sublime landscapes, street photography and perfectly synchronized still lifes, this show presents a wide range of approaches and styles. You will witness the reunion of talented photographers capturing the essence of their subjects, leaving us inspired and intrigued – a rewarding outcome for a member show.
